Google Come Up With A New Way To Make Buckets Of Extra Money (‘Enhanced’ AdWords Campaigns).

Here is a screenshot of what I get when I attempt to ‘upgrade’ one of my AdWords campaigns. :- mmmm…. a 10% decrease in mobile bids ‘based on bids from similar advertisers’. That sounds plausible. But wait, let’s look at the history for this campaign segmented by device type :- OK I know that there is not a huge amount of conversion data for mobile devices on this campaign, and that the Max CPC is not directly related to the actual CPC, and some people may look on their mobiles and then come back later and buy on their computers (in which the case the conversion won’t be measured (something that Google are currently working on apparently)) but nevertheless, the actual average CPC for mobile devices for this campaign so far is not very far off 50% less than for computers, and the cost per conversion is not far off…

Google Grants Max CPC Changes – What Effect Have They Had?

Early indications are that it could be easier to qualify for an extended grant by hitting your maximum daily budget more often, BUT it also looks like you’ll be getting fewer clicks :- The drop in clicks will most likely be caused by (as Google put it):- …to balance the interests of businesses who pay to advertise on Google search, your ads will now appear below the ads of traditional AdWords advertisers. It’s easy to be negative about something like this, but at the end of the day, Google are still giving charities a reasonable number of clicks free of charge (I guess)…

Got a testimonial today from a client that I haven’t worked with in years (which was nice). It was from iPassExam, which by the way is an excellent resource for anyone thinking of taking their AdWords certification exams. Click here to see customer testimonials for PPCNI.

Google Shopping Coupon For £75 For UK Businesses

Like it or not, in the near future, all Google Shopping UK traffic to your web site will have to be paid for. To soften the blow (albeit not very much), you can apply for a £75 coupon and 10% off your spend until the end of June 2013*. Here is the official Google link :-   https://services.google.com/fb/forms/shoppingcouponuk/     * They say you have to be advertising all products in your Merchant Center account to get the 10% discount which on the face of it seems a little bit unfair. e.g. if you have a couple of products in Merchant Center which you are deliberately not currently advertising in Product Listing Ads it seems Google can decide that you are not eligible for the discount which makes a mockery of anyone who has put a lot of work into setting up their shopping feed correctly and are using the…

AdSense Earnings For PPCNI.com For 2012

£425.86 isn’t bad considering that this site doesn’t get a huge number of visitors. However, if I was to sit down and work out how many hours I spent writing blog posts for this site, and was relying solely on AdSense income, I would probably be working for about £1 an hour! For anyone who is not sure what AdSense is, here is the official link from Google :- https://www.google.com/adsense/www/en_GB/tour/   I’d show you all the page views and RPM etc, but according to the Google AdSense Terms Of Service, I am not allowed to do that (they prefer people to brag about making loads of money rather than talking about the *huge* number of page views required to make it. :-)

Would You Like To Adjust Bids Based On Weather Conditions?

Though currently only available in the UK, the following service is intriguing :- http://weatherfit.co.uk/ One the major benefits about PPC Search Advertising (generally) is that if you have a big enough budget and high enough bids and are targeting the right keywords, you don’t have to spend endless amounts of time creating new campaigns and tweaking them according to hundreds of different factors. If someone is searching for a product, and you sell that product, your ad will appear and you will only pay if someone clicks on it. If you sell sunglasses and no-one searches for sun glasses on a very cloudy day – it’s no skin off you nose. However… I can see it working for the likes of a fashion retailer who can automatically increase bids on swim suits when the sun comes out etc. (or, one of their examples – water pistols). I can also see…
